For Families - Testimonials

The word I find to express my feelings about the group is SAFE. SAFE to speak of things that we may not want to talk about anywhere else. SAFE in knowing that we are with friends, people who know exactly what we are feeling because they are feeling it too. SAFE to trust caring, supporting professionals who offer us validation and direction. SAFE to utilize the strategies and skills we have learned as we stumble along this most difficult journey. Most importantly, we are SAFE to hope... hope and dream that one day, with my husband watching over us we will be whole again. Thank you for giving us this SAFE haven.

Thank you so much for everything you have done for all of us. You brought together many families that were, and still are, trying to understand all of these crazy feelings and thoughts. You have taught us ways to help our children through the most difficult time in their lives. And you’ve shown us, parents and children, that we are not alone in what we are experiencing. We’ve realized that although we have many differences, we are very much alike and share a unique bond. All of the people involved with this support groups are amazing. My children and I are sad that this 2nd chapter is almost over and we look forward to possible future ones. Thank you!

It is difficult to put into words how very grateful I am for all that you have done for our families. When September 11th happened my near perfect world came crashing to and end. Or so I thought. Early on there were many times when I wished that my own life would be over. After all, how could I ever manage this on my own? How could I provide my children with all the love, support, nurturing and happiness of two parents when I didn’t feel like even one parent much of the time? Well, before long I realized that I was surrounded by amazing angels who stepped in to give us that love, support and nurturing. What you have done for our families is nothing short of incredible. You have given us that hope we desperately needed to recognize that we do have futures ahead of us. That we can live good and fulfilling lives. You have shown such compassion for our children, the littlest and most delicate victims in this tragedy. I can’t thank you enough for caring so much about them (and us), and for taking such giant steps towards helping us realize that we can have happy, healthy lives. Thank you for meeting with the schools and teachers who will be instrumental in providing our children with the sensitivity, concern and kindness that these children will certainly need going forward. I will never forget you as long as I live. Please know that you will always be in my heart and prayers.
